What is the PTA Reflections Program?

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for all students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. This program is for all abilities!

STUDENT ENTRY FORM

The Student Entry Form must be filled out, printed and signed by the student and adult and included with their submission. Please leave the top part of the form blank, and a member of the PTA will fill it in. The artist may complete the artist statement on this form, or include it in a separate statement attached to the form. The artist statement should be a description of how the student's art reflects the theme, written in the student's own words, and be at least one sentence but no longer than 100 words. This form and your submission will be due in November. Please watch for more information to come when school starts in September.

Please Keep in Mind the Following

Each student entry must be accompanied by a paper student entry form signed by a parent or a guardian and be completely filled out including title and artist statement. This must be filled out by the student. The artist statement communicates the artist’s inspiration for the work and how it relates to the theme. The statement must describe the content and include at least one sentence but not exceed 100 words.  The title and statement are VERY important to the judging.

No names on the front of any of the artwork or photography. Have the student’s full name printed on the back of the entry.

Art and photography must be mounted on a sturdy backing (cannot fold) and be no more than ½ inch thick. (If you need assistance with the back, please contact us at fepta09@gmail.com for help. Please don’t let this be the reason you don’t participate.

Students may enter more than one category but may not have two entries in the same category. Each entry must be the original work of ONE student only.

Artwork does not need to be wrapped for submission as stated in the rules. If artwork moves on to the local PTA Council, the Reflections chair will wrap the artwork.

Please take a picture of your artwork before you submit it! If your artwork is chosen to continue on in the competition, you may not see it for many months! If it is chosen to go to Nationals, it may be years before it is returned. Literature will not be returned if it goes to Nationals.
